Reading Berks Intergroup

INSTITUTIONS

12-STEP COMMITMENTS IN INSTITUTIONS:

A.A. members are encouraged to practice the twelfth step by sharing their experience, strength and hope. One way is to carry the message of A.A. to correctional and treatment facilities where there may be suffering alcoholics. Designated Reading-Berks Intergroup chairpersons help facilitate these endeavors.

CORRECTIONAL FACILITY COMMITMENTS

For an A.A. member to bring meetings in to Berks County Jail System, one must fill out required forms before approval. The guidelines and requirements to attend an in-person meeting at Berks County Jail System have changed for 2024.

All BCJS Volunteer information, as well as required forms, can be found below.

Please Note: ALL of these forms MUST be filled out entirely and sent through the method listed on the form/or instruction sheet or they will NOT be processed. They can no longer be sent to the RBI Corrections chairperson. Once approved, each applicant must attend orientation training and receive a picture ID in order to attend these in person commitments.  THIS IS NOW AN ANNUAL REQUIREMENT.

Please contact our Men’s or Women’s Corrections chairpersons with any questions.

Treatment Facility Commitments

Our institutions chairperson helps facilitate this by sharing commitment opportunities with Intergroup Representatives who bring this information back to their homegroup. You can find facility information as well as scheduled and upcoming commitments below.

Please Note: To participate in the discussion at ALL of these commitments requires 1 year of continuous sobriety AND to have completed ALL 12 steps with a sponsor.

Please contact our Institutions chairperson with any questions.
